My name is Greg Cruikshank and I have been in love with reptiles since I was five-years-old. My mother is petrified of snakes, but she understood my passion for reptiles and allowed me to collect lizards as a child.
I raised iguanas and monitors for years until I left for college and was on my own. I quickly traded in my lizards for ball pythons and boa constrictors and raised these snakes for years until I decided to move to a more exotic species. I sold my ball pythons and boa constrictors and purchased Green Tree Pythons (chondros) and my first Northern Emerald Tree Boa.
I spent the next couple years educating myself on these species and the husbandry efforts to care for such an animal. Green Tree Pythons and Northern Emerald Tree Boas are beautiful snakes, but as soon as I saw my first Amazon Basin, I was hooked.
I spent the next few years trading out my Chondros and Northern ETB’s for Amazon Basins. I was introduced to Ed Marino and Steve Volk, and over those next few years became good friends with both gentlemen. Ed Marino and Steve Volk are true Amazon Basin professionals, they’re extremely intelligent, they offer advice and help when needed, and they absolutely have the best Basins I’ve seen in this rather small community.
My collection today consists of over 20 Amazon Basins. My plan is to grow my collection, breed my snakes appropriately to produce the most magnificent Basin lines and to sell the babies to others out there who share my passion.
I am also the CEO and founder, of LabRoots, the leading scientific social media network.
